We are in our first full week of the Akerman show and wanted to direct you towards the available Akerman resources. First, please feel free to look through the reading room on the second floor of the gallery and check things in and out as needed. There are many excellent sources that could be useful.
Secondly, Akerman's comments from the Curators Roundtable are located in the links section. She provided a substantial amount of insight that will help with the tours.
Please remember to have your outlines emailed by Wednesday, January 31st.

I was there to give a tour to a group of mentally and physically challenged people of hispanic origin. Not being about to communicate very easily I stepped back and watch as it was the artist who did the communicating. The group marvelled at the images and their viewing was punctuated by comments such as 'bus', 'Hollywood', 'bird' and mountain. Theirs was a joyous experience. The gallery was a warm and familiar surrounding. It was a very gratifying experienc for me and I hoped the artist would feel the same.
This is why I love being a docent!
