This 8x10 blackened steel and knitted heart piece was created by one of our own docents Matthew Glover. Entitled "My Love is a Funny Little Thing," it will be exhibited in Lawndale Art Center's Dia de los Muertos-Retablo open Oct. 22-Nov. 7.Through a variation of a process dating back to the middle ages, he poured oil atop the steel and forged it under direct heat. The random color pattern appeared as a result. The knitted white heart, measuring 1" thick, is a sort of signature for Matthew. At almost any hour of the day, you can find him knitting away inside Blaffer's walls.
