Call for entries: exhibition opportunity for University of Houston Students

Deadline September 1, 2008

Mary Magsamen and Stephan Hillerbrand are curating a video/performance exhibition of current and recent University of Houston students from any school, program or discipline they may be in or have come from. This interdisciplinary exhibition will be shown as a prelude to the performance “Homeland” by Laurie Anderson at the Wortham Center's Cullen Theater on Friday, October 10, 2008. This event is presented by the Society for the Performing Arts.

All current and recent University of Houston students are eligible. The theme of the exhibition is work that has been influenced by Laurie Anderson. While the main focus will be a video exhibition, we are also hoping to have 1-2 performances or installations as a prelude before Laurie Andersons performance. While no funding will be provided for performances or installations, this will be an extraordinary opportunity for work to be seen by the Houston arts community.
