Summer Arts Workshops, taught this year by artist Patrick Renner from June 16-26, wants your hidden treasures and personal artifacts.
Inspired by objects used by Leonardo Drew created to make his sculptures in "Existed," kids aged 6-12 will mine their very own archeological sites of personal and collective memory in "Lost and Found" on their last day of class, Friday, June 26 from 9:30 am -12:00 pm, followed by their own show and tell reception at noon, where visitors can see what students have made with what they've uncovered (there's more than just digging in this art project).
When: By June 15, please submit evidence of things "existed" that have meaning to your life….or your toolbox.
What: Good relics for kids to discover are things such as household items, mysterious souvenirs, and objects whose use has been outlived. Parts of objects and things mechanical are also good.
Do not submit:
Anything that was once alive.
Anything sharp.
Anything you want returned to you.
Celebrate: Everyone is invited to an informal reception for the students on June 26 at noon, the last day of class and the day of the expedition.
Are you in? Contact Katherine at kveneman@uh.edu with any questions and to RSVP. You'll get a reminder closer to the date!
