Univeristy of Houston Libraries Student Art Exhibition
The UH libraries seeks student artists for its annual juried art exhibit
SUBMISSIONS DUE FEBRUARY 2, 2010
UH students are encouraged to submit their artwork by February 2nd for consideration in the third annual Student Art Exhibit, sponsored by the Univerisity of Houston Libraries. The competitive art exhibit will be juried by represntatives from the Blaffer Gallery, Houston Art League, Lawndale Art Center, Menil Collection, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the UH School Art faculty. The exhibit will be on display from February 11 - April 15, 2010. Work should be submitted in room 220 at the M.D. Anderson Library or at the William R. Jenkins Architecture and Art Library, located in the College of Architecture.
Previous juries have selected work from students in all classes and a variety of majors including architecture, art, engineering, English, and technology. The Student Art Exhibit has given many students their first opportunity to display their artwork. At the exhibit opening, the artists are encouraged to discuss their work with jury members, the faculty, and their fellow students.
Students enrolled in Spring 2010 may submit two-dimensional work in any medium that is ready to hang or on foam core. Pieces may not exceed 5x5 feet, 5 pounds or extend more than four inches from the wall. Sculpture must be accompained by pedestals, unless they are designed to rest on the floor. The sculpture and pedestals must weigh no more than 20 pounds total, and must fit comfortably inside an M.D. Anderson Library elevator. Questions about requirements may be sent to cwessinger@uh.edu.

WHERE: Blaffer Gallery
On February 4, exhibiting artist Jon Pylypchuk returns to Houston from Los Angeles. The event is during the last week of the exhibition, which closes February 6. There will be a book signing during the event, and advance copies of the catalogue will be available for purchase. Admission to the talk is FREE.
